About Me

Alex Zuniga

Alex Zuniga has lived a life filled with experience in multiple realms. As a child growing up in Mexico City, Alex was exposed firsthand to the hustle and grind needed to keep a small business afloat. His parents owned and operated retail stores in the downtown district, and Alex was raised around the pressure and grit that it takes to compete in a saturated market. In early adolescence, Alex attended the most prestigious military academy for youth. It was here that he learned discipline and humility. These experiences, combined with Alex’s athleticism and success as a soccer player, enabled Alex to learn his potential as a leader. This would later translate as a leader of his staff, as a leader to his friends, a leader to his colleagues, and a leader in his family.

When Alex moved to the United States to pursue his college education, he had already earned three years of Law School credit. While Alex had an abundance of opportunity to live a successful life in Mexico City, it was the calling of the American Dream that brought him to the US to start from scratch. The lessons learned earlier in life guided Alex through this transition. He has been from a privileged family, but he yearned for the challenge that individualism brings in American society.

Alex learned quickly what it was like to be resilient in a new country when he was involved in a serious car accident in 2003. The car accident resulted in severe lower back injuries, which, to an athlete, were devastating. Alex was wheelchair bound for a period of time following the accident and was told by doctors he may not walk again. This forecast of his health served as a huge blow to Alex’s plans to achieve the American Dream. For a time, he struggled with the injuries and was in a dark place. He was alone, injured, in a foreign country, and with little hope.

Yet, what sets Alex apart from others who may have been in this situation is, he made a decision. He decided this accident would not derail his plans, and he tapped into his grit that he learned as a child and young adult to focus his mindset. His mindset became one of resilience, one of resourcefulness, and one of discipline. Through hours of physical therapy both with a formal therapist and on his own, Alex slowly but surely found his strength again. He not only began to walk, but he also began to run again. A former track runner, this accomplishment was especially significant.

From this experience, Alex learned to trust
himself and his ability to overcome any
situation, no matter how dire. Alex persevered.
Determined not to let any physical, emotional, or
financial ailment slow him down, Alex began his
journey in the US in familiar territory: retail.
While working full-time as a sales representative
for several retail giants, Alex pursued his
education and athleticism at both San Jose City
College and later, San Jose State University.
Naturally, Alex focused his studies on Business
Administration with an emphasis on
Communication. Alex knew he was on the right
path, even though the pay was low, getting to
and from work was a challenge on public transit,
and college level classes in English was a
challenge in and of itself.

Yet, Alex pushed on.

Without complaint, without ever doubting himself and his potential. Alex assimilated into American culture with the American Dream wafting over him day in and day out. The physical rehabilitation he experienced after his car accident, coupled with his love of exercise and sport, ultimately led Alex to the fitness world. Alex worked for a fitness giant for several years, leveling up through the corporate chain of command to ultimately become the regional manager of the company. Alex excelled in sales and leading people to a healthier lifestyle.

In 2012, Alex did what he does best: he decided. He decided to go out on his own, he decided that he would leave the comfort of the corporate world to branch out on his own. He knew his destiny was not to work for another, but instead, to work for himself. The key to his American dream would be entrepreneurship, the freedom to make big decisions, the freedom to build the very version of a life he always strived for.

Between 2012 and today, Alex has grown his operation into a successful business. It began as a one-man operation, working out of an apartment complex gym with a handful of clients. From there, it grew to bootcamps at the park. Then, subleasing a gym studio space for his growing clientele. At this stage Alex hired his first employee. By 2017, Alex opened his first brick and mortar location. Today, he has a staff of 25 and a client list of more than 400. Alex also dabbles in real estate, the stock market, and other ventures.

Like everything in his life, this success was not overnight. It is the result of purposeful and intentional decisions and action, all rooted in the mindset that he cultivated over time. The mindset of grit, resilience, resourcefulness, discipline, and belief. Belief in himself, and things larger than himself. Belief in the ability to do better, to be better, to reach goals that seem impossible and then to set new ones.

This mindset is one that, for Alex, has been forged in the fire. It is a mindset forged by
adversity, by struggle. But that does not mean you cannot benefit from this mindset
as well. We live in a world that is full of convenience and comfort – how can most be
expected to adapt to this mindset if they haven’t really struggled?

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE:
You need a leader; you need a coach. You need to be held accountable, held
responsible. You need a trusted individual who has been there, who can hold up the
mirror to yourself and show you what you can be. You need an example.

In his time as a successful entrepreneur, Alex has met an enormous amount of people who seem to have it all. What it boils down to, though, is that these individuals have achieved financial success. Yet, something is missing. Their lives aren’t complete, they aren’t living in their best state. They haven’t reached their whole potential.

Through these experiences, Alex decided. He decided he wants to lend his lessons, wisdom, knowledge, and influence to anyone who wants to truly have it all. Financial success is a great baseline, a great starting point. However, there are so many other areas of personal development that must be tapped into. Fitness, health. Feeling confident in your clothes and without them. Relationships with your family, your kids, your spouse. The relationship you have with yourself. Your personal style, your habits. All of these can be adjusted so you can be the best version of yourself.
